JNU election results: Left alliance sweeps all 4 seats, elects Mohit Pandey as President

The Left alliance on Saturday swept all the four seats in Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections. The result was declared late on Saturday night.
The left has won all the posts of the president, vice president, general secretary and joint secretary. Left candidates- Mohit K Pandey (President), Amal Pullarkkat (Vice President), Satarupa Chakraborty (General Secretary) and Tabrez Hasan (Joint Secretary)- won the seats.
The elections that took place on Friday saw a good voter turnout of 60 per cent, significantly higher than the last two years. More than 5,000 votes were polled. Regarding the outcome of the elections, outgoing JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar had earlier said, “There will be tough competition between the BAPSA and Left, especially for president. But one thing is certain, the ABVP is nowhere in the picture this time.”
