India archers’ campaign in the Rio 2016 Olympics came to an end after Atanu Das crashed out of the men’s individual event losing to Korea’s Seungyun Lee on Friday.
Das was India’s last hope in archery after Deepika Kumari and Bombayla Devi lost from the women’s individual event on Thursday.
Das had a close game against Lee but the Korean archer prevailed 6-4 to end India’s hope. After losing the first set, Das won the second and later tied the third. He had a chance to win the third but Lee shot a 10 on the last arrow to win it. In the fifth set, Atanu had to win it but tied the game to crash out.
Lee began the game with a perfect shot of ten and got the same score in his remaining two shots as well. Das could only hit 28. In the second set, Das raised his game to seal it 30-28.
Das had all the chances to take the lead in the third set when Lee shot a 8 on his third arrow to finish with 27 but Das also hit a eight on the last shot to finish with 27 and tie the set.
